First Steps Psychology

Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychology on the Mornington Peninsula

First Steps Psychology is a psychology clinic located in Bittern on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. We provide neurodiversity-affirming psychology services for children, adolescents, adults and families, helping people build emotional wellbeing, confidence and resilience.

Our practice is based on a peaceful farm setting with animals and nature, providing a calming, grounded, and supportive environment for therapy. Many clients find that interaction with animals and the natural outdoors enhances regulation, engagement and comfort in a way that complements traditional talk-based therapy.

Our Approach

At First Steps Psychology, we believe that people do well if they can. We do not label behaviour as "lazy"  “naughty” or “disobedient”; instead, we focus on understanding the why behind behaviour and support people based on their strengths, needs and individual experiences.

Our approach:

  • Strives to be Neurodiversity-affirming

  • Trauma-informed and strengths-based

  • Person-centred and respectful

  • Integrated with nature, animals and outdoor experiences, where appropriate

  •
